FAOSTAT reports a comparable 2024 production figure and is used for the international ranking. The website therefore cites the national survey for Sierra Leone operating statistics and FAOSTAT for cross-country comparison.
The 11.8 t/ha yield is interpreted against the survey’s 242,380 ha harvested area. It should not be multiplied by the larger 262,326 ha planted-area figure.
The international position is calculated by sorting countries in the same FAOSTAT 2024 cassava production series. Current FAOSTAT-based rankings place Sierra Leone around #21 globally, with production around 2.86 million tonnes.
Vitel uses “around” because source revisions and ranking methods can produce small differences.
Historical farmer relationships, land references, processing concepts, equipment, partnerships and project documents are useful evidence of institutional history. They do not prove that the same assets, relationships or operating conditions exist in 2026.

Vitel’s public baseline will be updated when authoritative statistics are revised or current field verification materially changes an operating fact.
